Attention BHS Wrestling Family,
How the season is flying by! We have one week left for the under levels, and the varsity is gearing up for post season time. Don't forget to keep attending practice if you are freshman or jv so you can train with the varsity. We need your help in wrestling with the varsity team and you can train for frosh/soph state.
We had a program sweep on Friday by beating Fremd at our "youth night" and last home meet. The varsity beat Fremd 67-12 and claimed the MSL West title by going 5-0 in the division.
On Saturday, the Broncos kept it rolling with wins over Glenbard North, Neuqua Valley, and Lockport. The Broncos have beaten 7 teams ranked in the top 25 and now sit at 23-3 with one dual left.
The junior varsity went 1-2 on the day beating Grant, but losing to Wheaton North and Warren. The freshman were 3-0 in their duals as well.

Attention Barrington Wrestling Family!!!
Happy New Year all and we are back to the weekly blasts! We only have about seven weeks left of varsity wrestling and the freshmen and junior varsity are done in two weeks. The season doesn't "officially" end until the last week of February, so we invite the freshman and junior varsity to keep attending workouts.
The varsity wrestlers NEED your help in preparing for the post-season individual and team tournaments. Plus you can continue to train for the frosh/soph state series which we will have more on later.
21 Man LineupIf the varsity wins the regional as a team we will have the opportunity to compete in the team Sectional on February 20th. We will be bringing our 14 starters to the team sectional (and hopefully downstate) along with 7 "extra" wrestlers which we call the 21 man lineup. Not everyone can be included on the 21 man lineup, but it is a great honor to be chosen. The coaching staff will choose the 21 man lineup after the regionals and you must attend the workouts to be considered, so stick around once your season ends freshman and junior varsity!
ResultsThe varsity had a successful break going 7-0 in duals and beating rivals Conant, Deerfield and Marmion. We are currently 4-0 in the division and we can win the MSL West with a win over Fremd on Friday. Last Saturday the Broncos went 3-0 and beat #25 Plainfield South 47-19 and beat rival Warren as well. The overall varsity record sits at 19-3 with five regular-season duals remaining.
Congratulations to Jaritt Shinhoster and Jake Meyer who just entered the "100 Career Win Club" at Barrington. Only twelve wrestlers in the HISTORY of the program have achieved 100 career wins dating back to 1956. Equally important, Markus Hartman is on pace to break the all-time career win record set by Jon Sesso (148 wins).
The junior varsity had a successful weekend as well beating Cary Grove, Downers Grove North and Hinsdale Central. Trey Cysewski and Ryan Vetticad had three pins each on the day.
The freshman took second in the highly competitive Bartlett Tournament which was a freshman AND sophomore tournament. We only brought freshman and climbed from 4th place to second place in the final round. The following freshman brought home hardware:

The Mat Club depends on volunteers to work at several fundraising events. It is this volunteer effort that allows the Mat Club to continue to fund the BHS Wrestling program so that our wrestlers get the support they need throughout the season and in the off-season. The volunteer effort only works if EVERYONE gets involved, from senior parents to the new and excited freshmen parents, and EVERYONE in between.
The Mat Club has solicited input from parents every season and doing fundraising on a volunteer basis has ALWAYS been the preferred method of supporting the club. This is in contrast to some booster clubs that charge "fees" or schedule mandatory work slots. We have 4 volunteer efforts that parents can sign up for, 3 tournaments, and 1 coat check.
For a wrestler to qualify for off season funding which may include Northwestern Team Camp, Team Building Excursions and subsidized weight training, the Mat Club expects for a parent to work 1 shift at 2 tournaments.
The events we need volunteers for during the 2016 -17 Season are:
Congratulations to the following placer winners: Markus Hartman 1st, Daniel Rassmussen 4th, Luke Rassmussen 4th, Jaritt Shinhoster 8th
Congratulations to Markus Hartman! He placed 6th double All American in Freestyle and Greco at the 2017 Junior National Championships in Fargo ND.
