Hello Wrestling Family,

The new mats for the wrestling gym are ready!  They will be delivered Friday after school and we need ALL of the boys (not in a fall sport) to help.  We have been working on getting new practice mats for the wrestling gym for several years, so this is going to be an exciting day.  Thanks to the Mat Club, the BBWC, generous parents and donors and the athletic director for making this happen!!

Here are the events for the week:

Monday: Open mats after school in the wrestling gym. No experience necessary and please bring a friend

               There is also a Mat Club meeting at 6:30 P.M. in the team room next to concessions. All are welcome to attend to discuss the business of the program and to get invloved to help!

Tuesday: Lifting after school in the BHS weight room.  Please bring your phone and download the Train Heroic app. if you have not done so yet

Friday: New mats are arriving after school.  We need as much help as we can get so please meet by the wrestling gym after school

Hello Wrestling Family!

The wrestling picnic is ON for tomorrow!!! We saw the weather report, and although it will be cool, the rain is supposed to be out of the area by picnic time.  We have umbrellas and the pool is heated, so please stop by at noon for some tacos and fun!  In the event that we do have to move the picnic to next Sunday, I will send out a blast tomorrow around 11A.M. so please check your email.  

Please do not hesitate to call or text me if you have any questions regarding tomorrow.  Otherwise, we will see you tomorrow at noon!

Thanks heavens we had a great (or good enough) day for our wrestling picnic! Thanks again to the Hartman's for hosting and to the Mat Club for putting on the party. The new wrestling mats are ready and will be delivered to Barrington this week. We will need the boys to set them up, and I will contact them via GroupMe for the help. We are tentatively looking at Wednesday to do this.

Helllo Barrington Wrestling Family!

Two weeks of school are in the books and the season will be here before you know it!  Let's not wish the fall away, but I cannot wait until the season starts!  This is a big week for BHS wrestling because our annual kickoff picnic is this Sunday at the Hartman's house and pool.  We also start our team weight lifting this week.  Below is some useful information for your family: 

As I mentioned above, our annual kickoff picnic is this Sunday at the Hartman's home in North Barrington.  The flyer with the information is contained at the end of this email. Thanks Hartmans for opening up your home to the wrestling program!

We will begin our team weightlifting this week in the BHS weight room.  We will lift together as a team Tuesdays and Fridays after school.  Below are some general guidelines to get the most out of our lifting program:

1.  Please do your best to attend both days of lifting if you are not in a fall sport.  Coach Voris, our strength coach has constructed a 10-week program designed to build strength, increase muscular endurance and muscle mass.  You should attend both days of lifting to get the most out of it. You can make up a day if you miss, but Coach has slotted the wrestling team to be in the weight room Tuesdays and Fridays, so please try to attend those days.  

2.  If your son is going to attend the lifting, please have him download the "Train Heroic" app. on his phone and bring the phone to lifting.   This will be used to track our lifts and our gains.  We will no longer be using paper or card stock and this new app. is awesome!

3.  If you do attend our team lifting please stick to our program.  We want to avoid coming to the weight room and doing "your own thing" (aka curls and bench press). You WILL get stronger and build muscle mass and endurance if you commit to the program by attending the sessions and working hard!

4. We understand some kids lift on their own at other gyms or at home.  These sessions not only help us get stronger, but also create team bonding, which is a huge part of our team.  This is a good way to get to know people if you are new, and build our team by being around each other outside of wrestling.  

Open mats will begin NEXT Monday, September 9th and a reminder will be sent out in the next blast.
