Hi Team!

I am blasting out a little early this week because we have information about summer camp...there will be speed and agility training for ALL BHS athletes begining this Monday, June 15th and running Monday-Thursday for three weeks. Sessions will run one hour OUTSIDE and there are six time slots to pick from. We are encouraging the wrestlers to sign up, and the link was sent out from the Athletic Department earlier in the week.  In case you missed it I will paste it below...I also sent the boys the link, but I know the parents need it too!

Thanks and I will keep you posted if I have any updates for you.

Hello Wrestling Family,

Happy summer and hopefully the end of E-Learning! I don't have much to report, but the IHSA did release a statement about the return to play for the state of Illinois...we are still a long way away from being able to practice wrestling, but ALL sports CAN gather together at the school to do non-sports specific conditioning drills without equipment.

It is a far cry from what we would like to do, but at least it is a step in the right direction. The A.D. is working with our trainer to put together some workouts for ALL athletes at BHS.  I will let you know the times once I know more. I anticipate this to happen in a week or so. In the meantime, the boys should be working out on their own.

I have pasted part of the IHSA's statement below if you have not gotten a chance to read it:

Hello,

I know there is a great deal of positive anticipation for our member schools to resume activities as quickly as possible. And I couldn’t agree more that our students need the direction and camaraderie that activities provide them. I would offer to everyone that we need to proceed with caution and according to the guidelines provided to us by our IHSA sports medicine advisory committee and the Illinois Department of Public Health. As we are now in Phase 3 of theRestore Illinois plan and want to get to Phase 4 on schedule, we must do our part as school leaders to ensure the safety of our students and coaches.

The guidelines we are sharing with you (attached) were developed by the IHSA Sports Medicine Advisory Committee, reviewed and approved by the IHSA Board of Directors and approved by the Illinois Department of Public Health. I do want to emphasize these key points:

  • All activities of students with coaches during this Stage 1 Return to Play need to be approved by local school districts and local health departments.
  • When schools adhere to the guidelines of Stage 1 Return to Play, there is no use of summer contact days. Summer contact days are used when coaches and students are engaged in in-person skill of the sport instruction. Presently use of summer contact days remain suspended by action of the IHSA Board of Directors at their April board meeting.

I will keep you posted as I hear more.

Thanks,

Coach Ud

Hello Wrestling Family!

Happy Mother's Day to all of the moms in the program! Thanks for being great moms and for doing an awesome job raising your children!

I don't really have any news this week...We just want to thank the moms in the program and wish them well today from the coaches and their wrestlers!

I will try to cook up some good news for next week...

Thanks,

Coach Ud

Hello Wrestling Family,

This is the last week of school, and with it comes good news!  Luke Rasmussen was voted as the "Male Athlete of the Year" by the BHS varsity coaches.  This is a huge honor for Luke and the program, so be sure to congratulate him when you "see" him.  Also,  Trey Cysewski won the "Senior Scholar" award for his dedication to his academics.  Finally, Steven Alton won the "3 Sport Athlete" Award which means he played three sports for four years!

These three young men have represented the wrestling program well the past four years and we will miss them along with the rest of the seniors. If I have missed a wrestler that has won an end of the year award please email me and I will include it in next week's blast!

Other than that, I don't have any announcements.  I will continue to update you and the boys as information regarding school and wrestling becomes available.

Osss!

Hello Wrestling Family!

Not a lot of news to report since last time, except plans are being hashed for an online graduation with an outing for the seniors in the summer...if and when it is safe!  Summer camps are still posponed, and we will open the wresting room as soon as it is safe!

We will begin our "Circle Workout Series" this week via Zoom and the first workout will be led by Luke Rasmussen, This will take place Tuesday at noon. Evan Roper is on the hook for "Circle Workout #2" and that will happen at noon on Thursday via Zoom.  Please encourage your wrestler to join the workouts as the meeting ID and passwords will be posted on the Group Chat.

Friday at noon will be Luke Rasmussen's "virtual signing" to wrestle in college at  North Dakota State University.  Wrestlers AND parents are welcome to join and the Zoom meeting ID and password is below:
