Hello BHS Wrestling Family!

It was a big weekend of wrestling starting with Senior Night on Friday in the Barrington Gym.   We hosted Conant for our last home dual meet of the year and the varsity won the meet in convincing fashion.  After the freshman team rolled and the JV lost a tight one, the varsity came away with a 44-16 win over the Cougars.  The varsity finished  divisional meets with a 5-0 record winning the MSL West for the third year in a row brining their division record to 15-0 the past three seasons.

Friday was also senior manager Will Karsten's debut as he wrestled a "varsity" match against Conant before the dual began.  It was a great night of wrestling for all. The news story is below in case you missed it:

Saturday, the Broncos wrestled three other top rated teams and opened the day with a tough 33-27 loss to Glenbard North. The Broncos responded with a nice, 42-21 win over Neuqua Valley before falling 39-18 to Lockport in the final dual of the day.  Dayven Shinhoster, Farouk Shaaban, and Jack Hartman made it through the meat grinder of a weekend undefeated. The varsity is now 23-3 with one dual meet remaining.

The junior varsity went 2-1 on Saturday beating Grant and Warren in the process while the freshman were idle.

Here is some useful information for the week

Practice all levels Monday-Thursday 3:45-5:45

The freshman and junior varsity will have practice Friday at 3:45 and Saturday at 9 A.M.

The varsity conference tournament is Friday at 5 P.M. and Saturday at 9 A.M. and we will see you there!

We are hosting the freshman conference tournament on Saturday, January 26th and we NEED VOLUNTEERS!!!  Please help the program for signing up for a volunteer shift by using the link below:

Lastly, the Mat Club is attempting to purchase two, new practice mats for the wrestling gym for next year.  The current mats are from the  1990's and we are in need of new ones. Everyone has been very generouse with the fundraising this year, so please let me know if you know someone who would like to doante to the cause.  The cost of the mats is near $26,000 and we have a good portion raised.  We need a few more thousand and we will reach our goal.

See You Friday,

Coach Udchik

Hello BHS Family!

Hello Barrington Wrestling Family!

The Broncos had another huge weekend of wrestling this weekend beginning Friday night at Schaumburg. The varsity won a hard fought dual eventually winning 43-20, but the match was close at one point.  The  middle weights stepped up and rattled off 4 wins to close the dual beginning with Kai's Conway's knock off another fellow state qualifier.  Luke Rasmussen and Conor Prettyman made fast work of their opponents as did Jack Hartman at 195 lbs. The "match of the night" was won by Josh Robinson when he won a 15-13 "buzzer beater"  to get the crowd on its feet.

Saturday, the Broncos took 2nd out of 16 teams in the Downers Grove South Dual Tournament.  We won our initial pool going 3-0 with wins over Bartlett, Normal West High and Downers Grove South. In the Gold Pool we then knocked off Burllington Wisconsin who is ranked highly in Wisconsin.  We fell short in the finals losing to Linconway West who we beat last year in the finals.  Brian Beers at 106 lbs . and Luke Rasmussen at 160 lbs. went 5-0 on the day and wrestled solidly!  The varsity squad is now 13-1 on the year.

The junior varsity dropped their duals at McHenry, but Coach Dunn would like to reconginze Carlos Aguilera at 220 lbs. and Ryan Vetticad at 182 lbs. for valiant efforts!

The freshman team was at the Conant invite and brought home some hardware of their own. The folliwng wreslters earned medals:

Charlie Jones: CHAMPION

Kurt Schnaubelt: CHAMPION

Zach Meyer: 2nd

Kevin Vetticad: 2nd

Vaibhav Patel: 2nd

Matt Conover: 3rd

Bryan Piscatello-3rd
