Hello BHS Wrestling Family!

Today is an odd day for the wrestling program because we would have had our annual "Barrington Brawl" Freestyle Tournament in our gym today.   We have had the tournament for at least ten years and it is sad not having it.  Hopefully, we will be back on track for next year!

I am sure most of you have heard by now, but the stay at home order has been extended to May 30th, which will cancel "in person" school for the year.  Summer school is going "virutal" and all summer camps and clinics have been suspended, so there will be no summer wrestling.  If things clear up by the end of the summer we WILL have open mats in the wrestling gym just like in the old days!

Plans are being laid for a virtual graduation for the seniors and there is talk of a "prom party" later in the summer. Nothing is "set in stone" yet, but we will keep you informed as we find out the details.

On a high note,  I was selected as the Illinois Coaches and Officials Association (IWCOA) "3A Coach of the year!"  The award was voted on by the coaches and officials in Illinois and it is a huge honor! I usually don't "toot my own horn," but this award belongs to the wrestlers, coaches, parents, and everyone associated with our program.  Coach Horcher was nominated as "assistant coach of the year," but was edged out by the Dekalb assistant coach. Lastly, Mike Obsuszt our Athletic Director, was selected as "3A Administrator of the year."  This goes to show what a team effort the Barrington wrestling program is!

Stay healthy and stay safe, and we will talk to you soon!
