Hello Wrestling Family!

I hope summer is treating you well, eventhough many  events are not happening as planned. Hopefully, you all are getting some quality family and friends time!

School and athletic plans seem to be changing by the hour, so I thought I would give you a summer update:

**Wrestling camp:  we made a program decision to cancel all "wrestling camps" this summer.  We could have met in the wrestling gym (with masks and social distance rules in place) but we could not have done any wrestling.  I know other sports had camps, but wrestling camp just did seem to be the same without doing any "actual" wrestling. I told the boys we will have free, open mats if and when we are allowed.  I know we are all yearning for the "good old days" when we could roll around on the mats and nobody minded!

**School:  As of now, "in person" school in scheduled to happen with the ability for your child to do distance learning instead if he chooses.  The teacher's union is currently meeting with the BHS administration and I have a feeling that school will start remotely, or with a mix of "in-person" school and distance learning.  This is just my opinion, but other local districts have announced they will begin the year remotely, so keep your eyes and ears open for an announcement soon.

** Wrestling Kick-Off Picnic:  Our annual "wrestling kickoff" picnic is scheduled for Sunday, August 30th at the Meyer Residence in South Barrington.  We ARE planning on having the picnic at this point, and we will provide details as the event gets closer.  Please save the date!

That is all I have on my end, but please read the updates from the Athletic Director below:

Athletes are now able to register for the 2020-'21 school year sports seasons.  Instructions for registration can be found on our athletic website at barrington220.org/athletics .  Updated physical exam forms should be emailed to Linda Ray at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..  Please promote this with your athletes.
Students who choose to do Distance Learning through BHS this year are still ELIGIBLE to play sports at BHS (as long as they meet weekly academic eligibility standards as per usual).
The IHSA Board of Directors will be meeting this Wednesday.  It is anticipated that a decision on the school year sports calendar will be made at this meeting.  I know they are looking at a number of different scenarios.  We should know more on Wednesday.  Obviously, whatever is decided can change instantly though as the nation deals with this virus.  THIS DATE CAME AND WENT AND NOTHING WAS DECIDED YET!!!!
The Administrative Team at BHS continues to try and prepare for in-school learning for this coming year.  Part of the tentative plans has some athletic areas being used as make-shift cafeterias and eating areas.  Most notably, the gymnastics gym & wrestling gym.  If these changes take place we will figure out how we are going to provide for our programs that use those areas as well as any schedule adjustments.  We will keep you updated as we move forward.
I will be in touch if I hear anything more!
